With final exams and assignments due imminently, this can be a stressful time of year for students. Student success is a core value at VIU, which is why the University has a wide range of supports and services available to students from the start of the semester through to the end of the term. Follow these tips and watch your exam anxieties melt away.
#1: Get the Help you Need
Need a little one-on-one support? The Math Learning Centre and the Writing Centre can help. And check out the Learning Matters website, a digital collection of tips and other resources to help students with everything from researching papers to putting together presentations.
#2: Check out the Library
VIU Library understands that sometimes you need a break from hitting the books. From therapy dogs, to colouring, to puzzles and board game nights, there are plenty of options if you need to take a study break to de-stress a little. The VIU Students’ Union also organizes various activities throughout the year.
#3: Talk to Someone
Sometimes what you really need is to talk it out. Counselling Services offers a number of Health & Wellness groups and workshops throughout the school year as well as individual counselling sessions.
#4: Sweat it Out
Students get a free user pass for the VIU gym, which includes basketball, volleyball, badminton and racquetball/squash courts as well as a fitness and weight room. But Campus Rec offers more than that to help students blow off some steam throughout the school year. There are also fitness classes, intramurals, outdoor recreation trips and a number of different health and wellness events, including chair massages, meditation and exam first aid kits.
