In celebration of National Work-Integrated Learning Month, the Centre for Experiential Learning (CEL) wants to bring awareness to the various career and work-integrated learning services VIU has to offer.
Looking for work while going to university can be a stressful and time-consuming task. Seeking a job that is relevant to your program of study can make the search even more complicated. The good news is that VIU has its own online job board that offers thousands of opportunities specifically geared towards students and their programs of study.
The best part? It’s completely free to use.
VIU’s Centre for Experiential Learning hosts the online job board, Experience Hub, where more than 3,000 active employers are posting new jobs daily. Many of these employers are local to Vancouver Island, but for students hoping to travel for work, there are tons of jobs posted from all across Canada as well. There are also remote-work opportunities for students looking for flexibility.
Accessing the job board
The Career Services module contains a general job board, where you will find a wide variety of opportunities. If you know what type of job you’re looking for, use the “Search Job Postings” function to enter key words such as “dental hygiene” or “admin,” or search by organization or location.
Whether you are looking for a full-time, part-time or seasonal job, CareerVIU offers plenty of options. The service is also available to alumni, so you can get started on your career immediately after graduation.
Expanding your network
Are you seeking opportunities to expand your network and connect with employers? Go to the Career Services event calendar module to see upcoming events including job fairs, networking events, info sessions and professional development opportunities.
On-campus employment
For students interested in on-campus opportunities, CareerVIU has its own On-Campus Employment module that advertises available jobs from departments all over campus including work-op and non-work-op positions. Many on-campus opportunities can be applied to your Co-Curricular Record (CCR), which is your non-academic transcript. Your CCR transcript is a great resume booster and can help expand your opportunities.
